Freedom Quest Teachers/Assistants:
We are currently taking volunteer applications for teachers and assistants in the areas the following areas. Please note that you do not have to be a professional in these areas to lead a class or to assist in one. Some of the things you teach may be your personal interests and gifts that God has given you that you want to share with our teens as an opportunity to build a healthy relationship with our youth.
- AND MORE! These are only examples of our common opportunities. We always welcome new and creative options for our students.
Whiz Kidz Tutoring
Whiz Kidz is a tutoring program for needy elementary children in Des Moines’ inner city. Currently, our tutoring session is held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00pm at the Freedom Center Campus.
Activities include group devotion time and a meal followed by quiet time where each tutor and student can work on reading and homework. Children in Whiz Kidz enjoy the personal attention and love of their tutor and develop a bond, which often translates into increased reading and academic skills. Tutors are encouraged to communicate with each child’s teacher to focus on areas needing attention and discuss progress.
