Freedom Quest
Freedom for Youth Ministries has a program called Freedom Quest for junior high and high school inner-city students. The program is free, year-round program for the students. The Freedom Quest program is where youth can find a fun, safe place to learn about God’s love for them, develop goals for their lives and learn work skills. Through the efforts of Freedom for Youth Ministries, the youth will hear about God’s love for them and the gospel of Jesus Christ and pursue their God-given talents.
The opportunities offered to the teens focus on skills and talents that the youth can learn and develop. Each opportunity lasts for six to eight weeks. At the end of the session, the students can pick two new opportunities or continue in one that they have excelled. Classes include (but are not limited to): woodworking, welding, art, singing, writing, guitar, videography, photography, scrapbooking, pottery, drama, auto mechanics and more.
We offer the opportunities as a chance to explore the gifts and talents that God has given them. Through the class and job opportunities available at Freedom for Youth, we hope to guide the teens into their future. Whether it’s a college education, tech school training or a career, we walk alongside the teens as they dream and create their goals.
In addition to the weekly program at the Freedom Center Campus, Freedom Quest offers day trips, weekend retreats, and week-long summer camp for the students regularly attending the program. We also lead many games to exercise team building and leadership skills in a fun way. We want to see the youth of this generation become the capable, honest and Christ-centered leaders of the next generation.
Maxwell Clark and Katie McDermott are the program coordinators and their goal is to build healthy relationships with the youth and disciple them as they participate in the program.
