Employment Training

Freedom for Youth Ministries offers Employment Training for young adults ages 18-25 committed to developing work and life skills through faith-based support inside a fully functioning business.

In this training program, employees are paid an hourly wage, and receive hands-on training to gain familiarity and experience and a variety of work skills within hospitality and food-service or skilled trades environments.

We offer a variety of professional certifications as well as individualized personal and professional development.

Freedom Blend Coffee is located west of the Freedom for Youth main campus, at 2329 Hickman Road, in Des Moines, Iowa. Employees learn work skills such as customer service, handling cash transactions, food and drink preparation, coffee roasting, inventory management, time management, and can earn their food safety certification.

Freedom Construction Services is located adjacent to Freedom Blend Coffee in Des Moines, providing supportive employment training in various building and construction trades —including carpentry, electrical, flooring, plumbing, and HVAC. Employees learn through classroom education, hands-on training, and on-the-job experience, under the supervision of skilled-trade professionals.
